Rose Sage, Salvia pachyphylla. Ye gods I love this plant so much. It's a California native, seen most often in the San Bernardino Mountains. This one is growing at the Big Bear Lake Department of Water and Power's Xeriscape Demonstration Garden.
"Always looking up in the sky to watch birds flying — or looking down at the earth to see something growing." Now, there's a terrific epigraph for a garden, or a blog like this one. Thanks, Frances and Tasha!
When I'm not working in the garden, or visiting nurseries, or attending Cactus and Succulent Society events, I'm following these terrific gardening blogs. They are great reads: informative, beautiful, and inspiring. You'll find even more goodness in their blogrolls.
